Rosenqvist's car goes airborne in Lap 29 crash at Indy road course
Christian Lundgaard won the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course on Saturday, his first IndyCar victory since 2023. Felix Rosenqvist suffered one of the race's most dramatic incidents when his car went airborne after contact with Pato O'Ward entering Turn 13 on Lap 29. Rosenqvist attempted to continue but retired with heavy damage.
The race featured multiple crashes from the start, including a spin in Turn 1 that involved Rosenqvist and others after early bumping on the frontstretch. Marcus Ericsson, Christian Rasmussen and Alexander Rossi did not finish, while Romain Grosjean completed the event one lap down. Rosenqvist started third but ended 23rd.
Race officials called 12 caution laps amid six lead changes involving four drivers. Lundgaard took the lead from David Malukas with 18 laps remaining and held on to win.
The Sonsio Grand Prix serves as the final preparation event before the Indianapolis 500.
